Building an audience requires you to create a delightful subscription experience. But there are times when the audience you have so efficiently built, opt out of receiving notifications. 

Who is a web push notification subscriber?

Anyone who clicks on ‘Allow’ on the notification prompt becomes a subscriber to your notifications and the number of subscribers start reflecting on the iZooto panel. 

  1. The users visit your website.
  2. They are prompted to ask for their consent.
  3. If the users opt-ins by clicking on 'Allow', they are added to your subscriber base.
  4. This enables you to notify them with your push messages.

Who are churned audience or unsubscribers?

Audience who have already subscribed to your brand’s notifications opt out, to stop receiving notifications. The audience who unsubscribe are also displayed on the iZooto panel to easily identify how many have unsubscribed and when.

Note: If a user dismisses or blocks your notification prompt, they are not considered as unsubscribers. 

Where can you find how many have unsubscribed? 

The overall subscriber view is available on the first page of your iZooto dashboard. All you require to do is to sign in to your account.

On the iZooto panel you can see the total subscriber base. Below, you can select a device to know from which device your audience are subscribing and unsubscribing. You can view the day wise data as well or get a cumulative number for both subscribers and unsubscribers. 

It produces an insight into how well your notifications are performing and how they are being responded to.

What can you possibly use the web push unsubscription data for? 

It operates as yet another metric for scaling your campaign performance and understanding which campaigns is driving web push unsubscription.

Once you have the number of active subscribers and churned out subscribers, you can begin working on reducing the churns by understanding what is contributing to it.

Few common reasons why readers unsubscribe

  • The notifications the readers received are not relevant. See why you need to and how you can segment your audience here.
  • You might be sending a LOT of notifications in a day. We recommend you set et a cap on the number of notifications by sending 6-8 campaigns on an average per day. Remember, you are not the only brand sending them notifications.
  • The timing of the notifications are off. Keep time zones in mind, make sure you are not pushing out notifications during odd hours.

Note: Your audience automatically gets unsubscribed if they clear their browsing data, or if they block notifications completely.
